Course Overview

The ITIL Certificate in Planning, Protection and Optimisation(PPO) is intended to enable the holders of the certificate to apply PPO practices during the service management lifecycle and specifically in the following key ITIL process and role areas:

Capacity management
Availability management
IT service continuity management (ITSCM)
Information security management
Demand management

The content of the course is based mainly on the best practice guidance contained in the ITIL Service Design publication.

The PPO course is designed to develop organizations’ and individuals’ understanding of the ITIL Service Design processes. It can help ensure that new and updated services, service management systems and tools, technology architecture, processes and measurement systems, methods and metrics are designed to meet user needs and will require little further change once introduced.

Although this training course is a freestanding qualification, it is also part of the ITIL Intermediate Capability stream, and one of the modules that leads to the ITIL Expert In IT Service Management Certificate.

Pre-requisites:

A pass in the ITIL v3 or ITIL 2011 Foundation exam or the ITIL V2-V3 Bridging exam.  Proof will need to be provided before attending the course. 
Candidates should also have exposure to basic concepts in IT and related work experience of at least two years.

Exam Information:

The Service Operation exam is challenging and consists of a complex multiple-choice, closed book paper of 8 questions, to be answered within 90 minutes. The pass mark is 70% or more. Two practice exam papers will be provided to assist with preparation. Successful candidates will be awarded 3 credits towards the ITIL Expert certification.
