The Report Worksheet is designed to ensure that every report generated within an organization delivers significant value. By addressing key questions, this worksheet helps assess the relevance, effectiveness, and impact of reports, fostering continuous improvement in reporting practices.

How to Use the Worksheet:

  1. Identify Report Information:
    • Clearly state the title of the report and the team or individual responsible for its production.
  2. Frequency of Report Production:
    • Specify how often the report is produced to understand its regularity.
  3. Target Audience:
    • Identify the intended readership of the report and assess whether the report is being read by the intended audience.
  4. Actions Taken Based on the Report:
    • Detail the actions that are initiated as a result of the information presented in the report. Specify concrete actions taken whenever possible.
  5. Report Purpose:
    • Determine the primary purpose of the report—whether it is used to justify, intervene, validate, or direct actions. Select the applicable option.
  6. Assessment of Metrics:
    • Evaluate whether there are metrics in the report that have not resulted in actions over the past 12 months. If yes, identify those metrics.
  7. Stakeholder Feedback:
    • Determine the last time feedback was sought from report readers regarding the report’s usefulness. Encourage open feedback on how to enhance its utility.
